Summary

"Search query matching" has been introduced for Search Ads.
*The name has been changed from "AI keyword expansion," as announced in the initial notice.

Search query matching delivers ads for search queries that the system determines to be highly relevant to the submitted keywords based on the following factors.

  • Internet users' search intent
  • Relevance to the submitted keywords
  • Content of responsive search ad assets
  • Landing page content and other factors

This feature is expected to improve ad performance while reducing the workload required for campaign management, such as adding or reviewing keywords.

Search query matching can be configured at the campaign or ad group level. To use this feature, set Search query matching to "Use" on the campaign or ad group settings screen.
*When configuring this feature for an ad group, also set it to "Use" for the parent campaign.

For search queries that trigger ads through Search query matching, "Search query matching" will appear as the match type in the search query report.
