Summary

We have released the "Ad Personalize Center" that allows Yahoo! JAPAN users to control information used for behavioral targeting ads. As part of our privacy enhancement, the "Ad Personalize Center" is that Yahoo! JAPAN users (hereinafter referred to as "users") can select more freely and precisely the scope of their personal data used in ads.

We offer "広告の最適化設定 (Ad optimization settings)" as a method of restricting the use of the user data in Japanese. In the Ad optimization settings, users can set the "最適化しない(オプトアウト) Not optimized (opt-out)" option that doesn't reflect their interests in the ad delivery. Ad Personalize Center can allow users to set more details.

When the user signs in with Yahoo! JAPAN ID, the following settings are available in the Ad Personalize Center.

(1) Ad display settings (Topics)
Users can set whether to reduce the frequency of displaying ads on topics related to their interests.

(2) Privacy management
Users can manage settings for their information (gender, age, attributes, etc.) for displaying ads.

Impact on ad delivery

We have started delivering ads applying the settings in the Ad Personalization Center from August 23, 2023.
Depending on user settings, you can deliver behavioral targeting ads to users who you could not have delivered previously. If users restrict using the data (attribute, activity history information, and topics), the behavioral targeting ads won't be delivered to them.
