Summary

To improve the efficiency of ad operations and enhance ad performance in Search Ads (Shopping), we have started providing an automatic bidding feature (beta version) that automatically adjusts bid prices.

Feature Details

The available bidding strategy for automated bidding is "Maximize Conversions." As an option, you can choose whether to set a "Target CPA."

  • Automated bidding is configured at the campaign level. Bid prices are automatically calculated based on the configured bidding strategy and ads are delivered accordingly. At the ad group level, only the "Target CPA" can be edited.
  • The learning status of automated bidding can be checked on the campaign list screen and in performance reports.

Comments

  • The behavior of bid adjustments and automated rules when automated bidding is enabled is as follows.
    • Various targeting settings remain effective; however, bid adjustment rates set for targeting will be invalid. If "-100%" is set for a device, ad delivery will be suspended.
    • Automated rules set for product groups will be invalid. The configured automated rules will run, but changes to bid prices will not be applied (automated rules set at the campaign level remain effective).
  • The "Use for automated bidding" option on the conversion settings screen will become configurable in November 2025. If you are considering using conversion data for automated bidding, we recommend changing the setting to "Use for automated bidding: Yes."

  • Portfolio bidding strategies are not available for Search Ads (Shopping).

Details of Impact

The report field "BID_STRATEGY_TYPE" is now available in the reportType "CAMPAIGN" of SsaReportDefinitionService.
The values output in "BID_STRATEGY_TYPE" are as follows.

  • MANUAL_CPC
  • MAXIMIZE_CONVERSIONS
  • TARGET_CPA
